Paris Games Week 2016 Review

Event • By nemco • November 3, 2016

Once again, the NemcoShow Association was present at the biggest French video game fair: the Paris Games Week. Six days of pure fun where we shared, with an ever-growing audience, our passion for “oldies”!

After recreating the cars from Sega Rally last year, the pressure was high: no question of just placing a few consoles on tables! Our motto: renew ourselves, create an atmosphere, invent every year.

Goal 2016: recreate Marcus‘s vacation! We found a vintage Renault 5, first owner, less than 70,000 km, and its matching caravan — furniture, cushions, scent included… all original!

Everyone stopped by the campsite: Genius, Julien Tellouck, Kythis, Fred (Sparadrap), Brigitte Lecordier, Frédérick Raynal, Fany Bouton, Lili Din Cosplay, the warriors of For Honor, and many more! VIP barbecue with special permission from the organizers — a dream come true.

Your humble servant was busy: more than three TV appearances. After a tour of the booth with the SFR ESWC team, I faced Joe Hume on BFM TV then chatted retro on Game One. Honestly, we were doing great.

The association brought out its finest arcade machines: SNES, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, GBA SP, DSi… and a Bomberman Saturn playable by 10 players in chairs far too comfortable!

Nintendo trusted us again: the Wii U / 3DS stations dedicated to Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Kirby were constantly busy.

The wildest? The InfiniVerse team: exclusive VR demo on HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR surfboard mounted on hydraulic jacks — over an hour wait! Candy offered in line, smiles guaranteed.

On the art side, favorites were:

  • Ymas Design: Duck Hunt frame entirely made of Lego.
  • I am Glad: geek portraits hand-painted with crazy precision.

A fan even spent 50 hours on each Mario plant to give us a giant Chomp and a NemcoShow logo! A thousand thanks!

Too many thanks to name everyone: Xelm, Jean-Louis, Cody, Bioman, Joyce, Clément, François, Thomas, Chérif, Olivier, Simon, Clotaire, Julia, Mélissa… and all the newcomers! You are the NemcoShow family.

According to Marcus, we did very well; challenge accepted: we will aim even higher next year!
